Information

A garden monument of exceptional importance surrounds the historic moated castle of the Princes of Ysenburg: the over 300-year-old Schlosspark Wächtersbach. After decades of stagnation and decay, the town took the reins in 2016 and is leading the ensemble into a new era. The castle itself has been restored to its former glory since 2020 and now serves as a modern town hall as well as a center for local and ceramic history.

Now, life is returning to the castle park. Where once the boundaries between Baroque garden design and wild forest blurred, a modern public park with deep historical roots is emerging. Admire the ancient trees along the central axis, stroll along the picturesque ponds, or discover exotic rarities in the castle forest. Supported by state and federal funding, the grounds are being carefully and respectfully revitalized. Be our guest at this historically significant place and experience firsthand how a place of the past is becoming a green future for all generations.
