Schlosspark Laubach
Schlosspark Laubach
open daily
The exhibition in the castle museum forms a harmonious synthesis of past and present – nestled within a castle still inhabited by the Counts of Solms-Laubach. Treasures from five centuries come alive in magnificently painted Gothic rooms, while the tower room houses the venerable castle library.
The adjacent castle park is a true botanical treasure trove. Originally laid out as a French Renaissance garden, Count Hermann Maximilian zu Solms-Laubach transformed the grounds into an English landscape garden in 1870. Where defensive ponds and agriculture once dominated the landscape, botanical rarities such as a monumental sequoia now captivate visitors.
A stroll up the double staircase leads directly into this Gesamtkunstwerk of "noble simplicity." Whether on the "Poetry Along the Way" circular trail with its 23 literary stations or along the botanical path through avenues and past towering trees – the park invites you to slow down and unwind. Today it is also a vibrant meeting place: concerts in the castle park at the kiosk and a modern water playground combine historical garden design with contemporary quality of life.
