Schlosspark Heusenstamm
Schlosspark Heusenstamm
open daily
The "Gräflich von Schönborn’sche Schloss" in Heusenstamm is a place where history breathes. After the count's line died out in 1801, the gardens served for agricultural purposes for a long time. But today, the grounds present themselves once again as a magnificent ensemble: The Renaissance castle – now the town hall – forms an aesthetic unity together with the reconstructed Baroque pools and splendid flowerbeds.
The revived axial system of the park is particularly fascinating. The historic "Patte d'oie" (goose foot) guides the eye along the avenue of linden trees to the striking rotunda at the "Old Linden Tree." Here, at the western end of the vista, a modern glass, light, and stone sculpture in the form of an obelisk connects Baroque geometry with contemporary art. A stroll through the park today is a journey from the strictly structured pleasure garden to the idyllic expanse of an English landscape park, restored according to historical models.
