Information

Directly along the Rhine, a vibrant recreational area stretches for about a kilometer. Despite the dividing main road, it's a popular meeting place, boasting shady seating areas, a spacious adventure playground for all ages, a small beach, and steps leading down to the water. Here, you can experience the Rheingau lifestyle firsthand.

More than just a park

The area, originally designed as an open park by what is now Geisenheim University, has evolved into a multifaceted center:

• Culinary Delights & Meeting Places: The "Bootshaus" café and restaurant, the youth center, a bowling alley, and the popular Geisenheim wine tasting stand (run by local vintners) invite visitors to linger.

• Activities: A pedestrian path and the European long-distance cycle route run parallel to the river through the grounds.

• Events: The popular "Better Than Nothing Festival" takes place here every May

A Place of Remembrance: At the heart of the grounds stands the fighter pilot memorial – the "Aviator's Memorial" – erected in 1959. Architecturally an important example of New Objectivity, it serves as a reminder of the importance of international reconciliation. The message of its initiators lives on: Every three years, a large, international aviation gathering is held here.
