Rennbahnpark
Rennbahnpark
open daily
Where hooves once thundered, urban nature now flourishes: A nine-hectare park has been created on the former grounds of the horse racing track, connecting the city forest with the banks of the Main River. As part of Frankfurt's Green Belt, the racecourse park offers a green retreat. Extensive sandy grasslands characterize the landscape and serve as a protected biotope for rare species such as the sand pink. Wildlife has also found a permanent home here – the old stables have been preserved as roosts for bats and swallows.
The circular main path leads along the historic racetrack and past an idyllically redesigned pond. Strolling along this path, visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the Frankfurt skyline from the sand dunes. But the park is not just for relaxation: A modern calisthenics park offers athletic challenges, while the colorful playground, developed with public input, delights children. In the future, a children's farm will breathe new life into the historic buildings.
