Information

Off to new shores – in 2026, the museum will open an interactive, accessible permanent exhibition on ancient mobility and globalisation. It shows why people have been on the move for thousands of years: trade, travel and military expansion connect regions and create networks. Goods, ideas and technologies travel long distances to new areas. Dependencies, conflicts and new rules arise. Highlights include the late antique shipwrecks discovered in Mainz in 1980/81 and two faithful replicas.
