The Trebur Society for Local History and Heritage (Heimat und Geschichte Trebur e.V.), founded in 1970, researches the history, culture and economy of our local area (Trebur, Geinsheim, Astheim, Hessenaue and Kornsand) and informs the public through exhibitions, talks and guided tours. In addition, our society runs the Trebur Museum on behalf of the local council.
Many Imperial Diets and church synods took place in Trebur during the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries. There is documentary evidence of 57 visits by emperors and kings. Numerous sources paint a picture of the Trebur Palatinate period, which began in 829 with the first written mention and ended in 1248 with its pledge to the Counts of Katzenelnbogen. Some 400 years, then, during which the imperial diets held here shaped the known world of the time.
