Kleinkunstbühne THING
The THING (North Germanic: place of assembly or the assembly itself) is the cabaret stage in Limburg. It was founded in 1979 by a few intrepid people who wanted to offer what other larger cities had long had: cabaret with a sophisticated programme. However, cabaret should not mean "small" art, but art that gets by without the large technical and organisational apparatus of commercial stages. In keeping with the origin of the name, a place of communication and entertainment was created. The aim of THING was and is to fill a gap in Limburg's cultural offerings with a programme ranging from cabaret, folk, rock, jazz and chanson, pantomime and readings to children's theatre and songwriters. THING offers about 2-3 events per month in a relaxed atmosphere on the club level of the Limburg Town Hall. It is not intended to compete with other cultural institutions in Limburg. THING sees itself as a supplement to the cultural offerings. People sit at small round tables with good drinks in the semicircle around the stage and experience direct contact with the artists.
