The festival brings the era around 1900, the heyday of the spa town, back to life and thus delights visitors. Fashion, music, and dance as in days gone by, and one of the most beautiful arts and crafts markets in Hesse. An important part of the program is the fashion show, the first of which took place in 2010 on the occasion of the State Garden Show. The fashion show takes viewers on a journey back in time to the Art Nouveau era. The stylistic features and changes in fashion are explained using a number of dresses as examples. In addition, short scenes are used to tell stories from that period. Some of the garments presented are originals from the Art Nouveau period, and the accompanying accessories, hats, handbags, parasols, gloves, and jewelry are in many cases from around 1900. New garments are sewn by hand, usually with great effort, based on historical patterns. Often, between 50 and 70 participants appear on the catwalk in the drinking cure facility. All age groups are represented, from babies to seniors. The detailed clothing conveys an authentic impression of the period, with high-necked dresses, long frock coats, hats, and gloves being worn despite the summer temperatures. In keeping with the style of the dress, all female participants have their hair styled by a hairdresser in the fashion of the time (Chignon hairstyles with floral or ribbon decorations, pompadour hairstyles, or braids for younger women). Art Nouveau fashion, with its aesthetic appeal and lightness, was a response to the Wilhelminian era. It was influenced by the aesthetic ideals of Art Nouveau and emerged as a counter-movement to the industrialized mass production of the late 19th century. It focused on craftsmanship, natural forms, and a close connection to art. Compared to the previous Gründerzeit period, which was characterized by opulent and often stiff fashion, Art Nouveau fashion was distinguished by flowing fabrics, curved lines, and floral patterns. Accessories such as hats, gloves, and parasols became works of art that complemented the style. Hair fashion also adapted to the natural and decorative style with loose updos and filigree embellishments. The fashion group is a flagship of the Art Nouveau Forum https://kirm.de/en/portal/Jugendstil-Festival%20Bad%20Nauheim and also appears in other cities as part of Art Nouveau events. The Art Nouveau Association has a clothing collection of approximately 500 individual items (of which approximately 250 are accessories), which is stored in Bathhouse 3. This means that approximately 100 people can be dressed in style.
