Homonale is the queer film festival of the state capital Wiesbaden. This festival has been held annually at the historic Caligari FilmBühne cinema since 2001. The festival's thematic scope encompasses films about gay, bisexual, and transgender people. The film genres are equally diverse, ranging from dramas and comedies to thrillers and documentaries. It is one of the few film festivals in Germany that addresses these topics. A project with a long tradition, it is firmly rooted in the community in Wiesbaden and Mainz and is organized each year by a volunteer film group in collaboration with the Wiesbaden Cultural Office and the DFF – German Film Institute & Film Museum. All major community groups are involved in the work, and at least one representative is sent. The project also cooperates with the QUEER gelesen reading festival, the Wiesbaden Cultural Office, and the Caligari FilmBühne.
