Information

The Institute for the History of Frankfurt is one of the most important municipal archives in Germany and among Frankfurt’s oldest cultural institutions. Its historical memories go back to the year 1436. The institute receives documents from Frankfurt’s City Council whenever they are of historical and legal significance. It collects any documentary material that is important to the history of Frankfurt and then makes it available to the general public under a variety of thematic headings, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
