The museum, which opened on March 27, 1980, is located in Hauptstraße 21 in the center of Elsenfeld next to the old parish church of St. Gertraud and is housed in a Franconian half-timbered house with its multitude of exhibits. But not only the interior of the house with its rich equipment deserves attention. The estate, which was acquired by the market town of Elsenfeld in the course of the town center refurbishment, serves as a museum of local history after extensive refurbishment and gutting. Together with the old parish church it forms an attractive ensemble of urban development.
