Information

Brentano Park is a green jewel in Frankfurt's west and boasts the greatest variety of trees of all Frankfurt parks. The history of the approximately four-hectare grounds dates back to 1770. From 1808 onwards, the Brentano banking family transformed the area into a romantic landscape park, which continues to captivate visitors today with its expansive views and exotic trees.

Cultural Highlights:

• The Petri House: This picturesque half-timbered house was remodeled by Carl Friedrich Schinkel in the Swiss style. Thanks to civic engagement, it has been extensively restored and now houses the Brentano Museum on its upper floor, offering insights into the Romantic era.

• The Goethe Ginkgo: One of the oldest ginkgo trees in Europe (over 260 years old) stands directly next to the Petri House. It is considered the inspiration for Goethe's famous poem "Ginkgo Biloba".

• Architectural Traces: In the park, one can admire the neoclassical white bathing temple – a relic from the glorious era of upper-middle-class garden design.

• Place of remembrance: A memorial made of red sandstone commemorates the destruction of the Rödelheim synagogue and the fates of Jewish citizens during the Nazi era.
