Bolongarogarten
Bolongarogarten
daily opened
Just a few steps from the banks of the Main River lies a jewel of garden history: the terraced garden of the Bolongaro Palace is Frankfurt's only completely preserved Baroque garden. Built between 1775 and 1783 by the Italian merchant family Bolongaro, the ensemble impresses with its grand architecture and unobstructed view of the confluence of the Main and Nidda rivers.
Cultural Highlights:
• Sculptures & Fountains: The sandstone figures of a Turkish musicians' band on the garden wall and the Triton Fountain in the center are unique. Hidden among the sweeping staircases is an artful shell grotto with the "Dragon Fountain."
• Historic Ground: Where Napoleon I and Field Marshal Blücher once resided, visitors now stroll through a complex that will shine in new splendor after extensive renovations in 2025.
• Future of the Palace: Following the completion of the comprehensive renovation, the Bolongaro Palace will develop into a vibrant civic center. It will house, among other things, the Höchst Porcelain Museum, a restaurant, and a variety of cultural institutions.
