Information

A majestic chestnut avenue leads the way to the baroque Holzhausenschlösschen, which rises as if enchanted from an idyllic pond. The surrounding park is the green heart of Frankfurt's Nordend district: While the expansive lawns and shady benches under magnificent old trees invite visitors to linger, two large play areas offer adventures for all ages. Little explorers can immerse themselves in fantasy worlds in the fairy house or at the water feature, while older children can burn off energy on climbing frames and ping-pong tables – including accessible swings for all children. A modern kiosk completes the offerings with refreshments.

The history of the estate dates back to the 14th century. In 1722, the von Holzhausen family commissioned the architect Rémy de la Fosse to build the present-day moated palace as a summer residence. Thanks to civic protests, part of the once vast landscaped park was preserved. The city of Frankfurt acquired the park in 1913 and opened it to the public. Today, the renovated small palace houses the Frankfurt Citizens' Foundation and is accessible via a stone bridge.
