The Petrihaus, which belonged to the merchant and banker Georg Brentano, was rebuilt and restored through the joint efforts of many Frankfurt citizens and companies. A Brentano museum has been set up on the first floor of the Petrihaus. The oldest ginkgo tree in Germany, which is protected as a natural monument, grows next to the house.
